Who I Am

Who I Am

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

I am who I am,
And that's all I want to be.
I don't give a damn
What you choose to think of me.

You can talk behind my back,
Or say it to my face,
But either way, I am
Never going to change.

You can call me a coward,
Or tell me that I'm wrong.
I'll just keep moving forward,
Keep standing strong.

It truly does not matter
If you love or if you hate.
I know I can do better,
And you can't run from your fate.

Karma's going to get to you,
Sometime, now or then.
How I love to tell you the upsetting truth,
Your power will be dead.

Feel free to shove me down,
I'll just get back on my feet.
I'll just keep standing out from the crowd,
I'll just keep on being me.

I am who I am,
And that's all I want to be.
There is really nothing that
You could ever do to change me.

So I will just keep singing,
Keep reaching for the sky.
We've got such a short time for living,
So there is no need to cry.
