Dear Someone

Dear Someone

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

Dear Someone,

Can you hear me?
I promise, I'm here,
And I can't wait for us to meet.

Are you there,
My perfect someone?
Will you please tell me
Where it is that you hide?

I have never laid eyes on you,
But I know that you're beautiful.
I write these words for you,
And you alone,
So that you and I can read them
Whenever we feel lost,
Or just when we cannot sleep.

I miss you, Someone.
Promise that you'll
Be here soon?

I love you, Someone.
But you don't have to say
That you love me too.
Not if you don't mean it.

So for now, Someone,
All we have is the written word.
I know that soon,
I will hear your voice,
Hold your hands,
Feel your warm breath
On my cheeks,
And your soft lips
As they graze mine.

Thank you
For listening, Someone.
Thank you
For caring,
And for loving.

Sincerely,
Me
