The Perfect Words

The Perfect Words

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

At the moment,
I've got nothing to say.
So let's just sit in silence
For a while.

Why not let the music
From your radio
Hum in the background
While we fall asleep?

Hold your brush
Up to the canvas
And I will watch you
As you release yourself.

And I will write
A list of words,
A soft poem,
To tell you how I feel.

And as the night falls in,
We will slip away,
Into our dreams.
Just you and me,
And a million stars.

But all the while,
I will not be able to find
The perfect words
To say "I love you"

And all the while,
You will see right through,
And say them for me,
Without saying a word.

At the moment,
I've got nothing to say,
So let's just sit in silence,
And fall asleep.

Wow plain, but yet romantic and beauiful.
