Growing PainsA Poem by Dan BThe title actually has a double meaning. Not only does maturing cause physical pain, but the act of growing can sometimes "pain" individuals. This poem is for everyone who needs help becoming an adult
Warm rain punctures the ground and sounds off a hefty boom,
Its droplets turn into sweat on your face as you reflect upon what you've been through. You try to ease these emotions and become more heartfelt, But too much is it to succumb to the pain that has been dealt. Sitting on your porch step, viewing your agony in each rain droplet, Your hands clutch your face as you attempt to find the culprit. Amongst this action you come across nobody but yourself, You were so deeply trapped that you simply couldn't tell. You uncurl out of the ball of cowardice from which you took form, All you need to do is grow up, but not wanting to is what's keeping you torn. Are you going to go back into the house and begin to cry? No. Instead, you'll move forward and put behind the reasons why. Don't look back now, the warm rain is still outside, As difficult as it is, look ahead, because a better life is what you'll find. © 2014 Dan B |
