Summer,

Summer,

A Poem by Daniel Salvatierra

It was on that hill
Sunlight crashing down
Cruelly unhinged
While the rest of the bay
Bathed in summer
Blissfully unaware, sun-kissed
All sorrows tucked away

Characters of Hemingway
Swimming around in my mind
Every Memory, every laugh
Like knives to the heart

Could words be haunting,
When carelessly spoken?
Could tongues catch flame like paper,
Their actions come undone?

I sat lethargic, motionless
While water transformed to beaming silver
Frozen in time

If I could spell it better then you, I would, but honestly, an amazing piece this is...I felt myself at Spain again through your words.

Yet there is sorrow, and pain, only a true poet can bring, in a halfway switch... I felt winter through your summer brain... Just brilliant and lovingly seasonal...

From start to finish, the imagery in this is just beautiful!
Particularly loved it here at the end -
"While water transformed to beaming silver
Frozen in time"

I really enjoyed reading this.
Lovely work

You created a lovely haunting type tone with this piece.

Could tongues catch flame like paper,
Their actions come undone?

Loved this part.

Daniel, this poem describes the way of it sometimes. I have a hard time defining why I am not always in the moment. The stuff going on inside is sometimes so much more in your face. The sunshine cruelly unhinged and then the question about the tongue flashburning like paper are fantastic images. I saw the shift from hot sun-kissed summer to frozen in time so clearly. It just feels hopeless in the end. Nicely written. Angi~

"Could words be haunting,

Could tongues catch flame like paper,
Their actions come undone?"

The questions are never-ending...the pain is a continuous burn.
This is beautifully written.

Beautiful places you took me with your words. I like the description of the location and the thoughts. Good to freeze the good days and nights into our memories. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
