Behind the smileA Poem by DanCusterListen to people and enjoy them, one day they could be gone.
You were a geeky guy
You liked cartoons, comics and sci-fi, We could talk for hours about Marvel vs Capcom About how Aliens was an allegory to Vietnam You loved to smile, hated to hate Always a pleasure to be around you mate We were Wrestling teammates, you were so strong Coach sometimes considered you for Varsity, he wasn't wrong But behind the smile was so much pain Something wasn't right, happiness you had to feign Your soul while pure, was melancholy Not your fault, simple human folly So you gave yourself to a river, leaving your peers To drown in a river of tears But it isn't about us, is it? When I'm worm food, I'll be sure to visit. R.I.P Steve, may you have eternal happiness © 2014 DanCuster |
