King of GloryA Poem by Dan CowanI wrote this piece on the last morning of a 3.5 day fast I recently completed. For this fast I abstained from food, coffee, beer, and entertainment, drinking only room-temp water and meditating on God
I will walk in spacious places
When You turn my lament to dancing I will lie beside quiet waters Or strut like horses prancing Oh God, how great Thou art! You spread the heavens with stars You pulled mountains from the earth You make the seas your water carts By Your breath the dust gained life By Your wisdom all of nature thrives And Your heart moans like sorrow-flutes When You must discipline our strides You are enthroned from everlasting And to everlasting Your mercies pour me I seek Your face, oh Lord of Hosts! How I delight in You, King of Glory! © 2020 Dan Cowan |
