Pompous

Pompous

A Poem by Dan Burrows
"

This poem is a (hopefully) comical insult to anyone who loves themselves just a bit too much.

"

You show so little piety,

yet you expect the fallen and mighty,

to love you, adore you,

care for you and morn you,

but instead they just abhor you.

You try to hide your jealousy,

but with a lack of tangible credibility,

you show off the "serendipity",

of your circumstance and your ability.

Must I be the one to decree,

in anger or in cruelty,

that you cease these actions henceforth,

for none of your fellows see,

shallow is all you seem to me.

I have triple checked all of the word definitions but if you find any mistakes please let me know! Also, I'm not excessively happy with rhyming "adore" and "abhor" but I do love the words and something about it sounds right in my head, I'm not sure. Hope you like it. :)
