The reality of DepressionA Poem by Damion DiffendalA poem about how real depression truly is.Darkness is the affliction of the mind and soul, For everyone who lives, it presently tolls. When losing someone special, so very dear, It makes us contemplate staying here. How does one remedy a somber disposition, which depresses, perturbs, and blurs your vision? A veil, a mask, and a hidden singularity, Distresses, and takes away your longevity. A life cut short, as the curtain falls, When overcome with despair, the church bell calls, Another to the hole to which to reside, A lost one now gone, who deemed to have died? They died long ago, at the first shadow’s cast, It’s surprising, mystifying, yet they are not last. The darkness will always achieve its goal, Darkness the affliction: the mind and the soul. © 2016 Damion Diffendal |
