Shadow (Song)A Poem by Damien Davison I will be putting up the audio at the end of January! If this song can help one person with addiction, I've accomplished my goal. A shadow means that there is a source of light Impossible, darkness is filling my eyes There's no way around to see the other side Why can't a solution just enter my mind Sitting, planning, waiting, easy way out Did you know it's harder, walk the easy route Sickness, the venom you spit from your mouth Is killing the innocent, "Rescue me, now!" Your wondering when The torture will begin But no, not of your kin You can't do that again You can't possibly win All the forces against All your effort, like wind Then commit moral sin All the voices that follow Ring cold and so hollow It's so tough to swallow Come on, show a smile Weathered from miles And miles of trials The chosen lifestlye It adds to the pile With effort I am moving forward Though stormy, the weather, I'm winning this war My clothing feels wetter, the weight of my sword The going gets better, never any more! The only shadow that I see Is laying down behind me Illuminated by life Kissing the dark goodnight I thought I could trap it It tricked me I'll catch it Heh, silly rabbit This trick's a reaction Of bottled up madness A release of passion An unstable balance I think I can manage it Mechanic additives Atlantic avenues Attractive attitude Relax and grab it dude Can't axe planted root React? What can I do Sit back and pay your dues See that you see it though You'll see the hard way's the road Need to work at it to pave it in gold Cleaning And keeping It gleeming Shines light to the demon And with him the dark will recede Spark An ignition A troubled admission A conscious decision Rid toxic emissions I got it, I'm giving A life to the feeling My mind to the ceiling I'm finally healing The light that I face Puts shadows behind me Also they lay Stretching to find me Never disgrace Shadows define me I have replaced Whatever designed me The only shadow that I see Is laying down behind me Illuminated by life Kissing the dark goodnight It is just a two dimensional figure A projection of the past, stretching out bigger And if I look back I will witness a trigger My strength will outlast, I was born as a winner I drowned in deep waters, reborn as a swimmer I'll push myself farther, forwarn the harsh winter Until you escape I'll try to create The start of a flame Darkness at bay And try to evade Attemped invasion Raising the stakes With no limitation The only shadow that I see Is laying down behind me Illuminated by life Kissing the dark goodnight
