Chapter 1 - Directed Steps (Spoken Word)

Just an introduction in to my life...

A world 

Magically altered 

Manipulated by the minds of the Magi

Energy 

Visualized by the ones holding ties

To the underground society

That governs their lives

A ban had been placed

With the Casting of Ways on display

The High Order took control 

Of a disorder in the Ways

An addiction

Mental sickness

Obsessing over interest

Many in the world then 

Seen things I'd never witness

Ninety years after the Outbreak 

It seemed my dad was outraged

Cause within a couple years he left

This b*****d kid a drought fate

My mother

She struggled

But pushed through the rubble

Grounding our feet

Though pained, lost, and troubled

It seemed her luck doubled

A new face existed

He twisted the fate

Of this mother and this kid

Bonded as chains on the armor of soldiers

A change of view

Born

A brother 

My shoulders

Exposed to the magic

Reacting with sadness

His tears

I swear they're wept for man and their madness

A prime candidate

For magic's disaster

Intelligence

Will

And attracted to hazard

We then traveled far 

Tired

But safe in the place of our good father

With or without 

The relief of a new start

Trials await

So prepare 

Kid

Your weak heart

Kids in the village would come out to play

And they'd tease 

And they'd bully

To brighten their day

And what angered me most in my mind

At the time

Is they'd do it in groups

But alone 

They'd be fine

One day it was mentioned

One's brother did magic

Most common convention

For mental distraction

I couldn't have know

This Way was a door

I knew it was wrong

But I couldn't be sure

Author's Note

Tell me what you think, I turned my life and our world medieval, where drugs are replaced with magic... This is just the beginning.

I like how you set-up the story. Using short paragraphs. Each with a reason and purpose. I like the description and the use of magic. You have my attention. I will keep reading. A excellent opening chapter.

The American system preserves its ability for original thinking but sometimes this is hard when things become too established. The folks on top don't tolerate someone rocking the boat.

I believe this is the magic drugs bring to the experience. Its like a game of blindman's bluff to get a person not to take what's there too seriously. Great work on the arrangement and structure of the poem. Creates a reference to many sources and is not a droning complaint. Your father?

Notwithstanding how we are getting along with our father, we ourselves are growing into one. The orderliness we thereafter engender is from us as father, which may include some stuff from the old man. I was wondering about that.

I suppose after meeting my father at 16 I realized that I was a lot like him in many ways, even though I had never been around him. Though of course I grew to be a lot like my step father as well. I try not to apply much of my real father's ways in to my parenting... Simply because I don't know how he parents other than just not talking for over a decade... Anyways I hope I answered your question.

Tks for sharing. I lost my father when I was 12. Managed myself and grew into the man I thought I ought to be. I realized there is no one rule about fatherhood, but the influence of my father continues in some ways.
