I Am Strong (Poem)

I Am Strong (Poem)

A Poem by Damien Davison
"

A poem about overcoming addiction...

"
If pain was but a test of weakness
Then I'd realize I am strong
I swam to float above the deepest
Treading nine years long

You've read it before, I've said it twice
You read this poem, I've said it thrice

I'm happy, strong, and moving forward
No longer cocaine dreaming horror

Author's Note

Damien Davison
I've been clean off of cocaine and alcohol for 4 months now. I still have to occasional beer, but not to get drunk... It was a very hard battle, chains of bullshit weighing heavy on my mind. But I'm one of the strong ones that will actually do something big in his life, something I and my generations to come can be proud of... I hope someone reading any of my poems about my addiction and my mind's descent will be inspired to find true happiness. Things get better if you let them.
I must warn you, escaping the icy grip of Dark is a lot harder than you'd think, depending on how deep in the hole you've fell.

My own experiences with marijuana was a little like running to the place I wanted to get to but later I walked there and experienced a true achievement. Thanks for the story.

I've known a few that have died prematurely due to substances... It's terrible where it leads you.

Its important to refill the places they emptied. It makes up for the slack.

Very encouraging and could provoke others to take the same direction. Although can't say I've been in the same dilemma I have seen others fall.

It always touches me to see someone get clean after struggling with their own personal battles. I've been around all types of addiction my whole life, so I take it to heart seeing anyone struggle with it. I've always said there's a soft spot in my heart for people who deal with addiction, so consider yourself a part of it. It's amazing to see that you've come so far in your journey of recovery, and though I may not know you, I must say I'm incredibly proud. I've seen people deal with it, and I know it's not something you get over easily. Four months must seem like an eternity. I hope the number of months only climbs. With that being said, this is a very powerful and to-the-point poem, one that I personally enjoyed. I wish you luck in your endeavor, and if you ever need a friend, please don't hesitate to ind one in me.

I really like this. It's great that you freed yourself from addiction. I've known so many people who I've cared about who have had a problem with addiction and either just wouldn't stop because they just didn't want to, or because they just didn't think it was worth it, and they have lost their family and friends and several of them have even lost their lives... I think it's really great that you were able to get clean and get your life back. :)

I know this feeling, man, and this is a good tribute. I like that its short and to the point. Its the kind of thing you could repeat to yourself, like a chant in times of difficulty. Keep up the good work, man. I've been clean for three years now and it's difficult, but it makes you all the stronger.
