Breaking Free (Poem)

Breaking Free (Poem)

A Poem by Damien Davison
"

Rest I will not, for I've too long. One thousand chains I pull.

"
Switch off
Alleviate distraction, Dark
I desire your embrace
Pacing the edge
In to the hurricane
Ravaging winds of disgrace
Past has passed
Those ravaging winds
Where do I lay my soul
Rest I will not
For I've too long
One thousand chains I pull
Weakening rust
Defenses exposed
Through miles and miles of torture
Dawning strength
I lift these hands
The earth, she screams in horror

I must say this is a very inspirational poem. I really enjoy how you set up your poems, which words rhyme, and the fact that the flow is always so wonderful. As always, I'm impressed. I enjoyed the piece in every way.

Thank you
I have had to read and re-read to fully absorb all that this is.. For me it was packed full of emotions that made me feel like I was riding a pendulum on a clock.. The last stanza makes me feel like the struggles were over come and you were able to take control of the crazy train.. ??? I may be way off but I had fun reading none the less hahaha.. xo

Why thank you!
Great imagery, excellent write.
For some reason this made me think of the story of fitzcaraldo pulling a ship over a mountain. Had the same feeling of trying to fight against rediculous odds.

Well done, D + thanks for sharing

Amazing work here. I love this poem! The... slightly detached words work wonderfully!
Second stanza! Ahh, my favorite part.
Wonderful description of going through hell to get free.
