The Haunting

The Haunting

A Poem by Damien Thibodeaux
"

Just a little rock song

"

The Haunting

Even though

you are gone

Gone so long

It doesn’t stop

Each day you’re still with me

Though you’re not here

Moonlit nights

I’m alone

All alone

You’re my last thought

before I go to sleep

First when I wake

(chorus)

And in between

You still haunt my dreams

When will it stop?

Not in this life it seems

Come and kill this pain, I want to cry!

I hear you

whispering

In my ear

Singing my name

Begging me hold you close

But you’re not there

(chorus)

And every night

Seems just like yesterday

Though you are gone

You’re still a part of me

Come and take me home, I want to die!

(guitar bridge)

(chorus)

And in between

You still haunt my dreams

When will it stop?

Not in this life it seems

Come and kill this pain, I want to die!

(guitar solo)

And I’m still

Missing you

When will it stop?

Wow, such powerful words! As they said: "it's better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all".

Don't I know this feeling all too well!
It's the seed of most of my recent work.

When love is lost, taken from us by the cold hands of death, it is impossible to come to acceptance.
At least, it has been that way for me.
Perhaps we hold on to the pain so strongly, because it is the last shred of the person we have left.
Who knows.

A lovely piece about the haunting and painful reality of loss.

Thank you so much!
Ache...depressing, but beautifully melancholy. It's the pain of heart-broken lovers and dreamers. Is it better to love and suffer the pain of losing someone Or is it better to remain numb and indifferent? To not feel can make you feel less than human too you know?

I love this. Full of longing, pain and need. A ghost forever haunting.
Someones one wants to die to be with the one who has crossed over just to ease the pain of separation.

Thank you so much for reading.
Do you write music? If so, I'd like to see the composition of this. If not, well, I'm getting that Evanescence feel.
