Creepy Tree

Creepy Tree

A Poem by Damien Thibodeaux
"

Someone I was traveling with looked across a field from the car window and said, "Look at the creepy tree." This is the result.

"

CREEPY TREE

The wind whispers songs of demise

Burden the weight of sins and lies

Now before anybody knows

There’s only one place left to go

I know a place where we can hide

Before others find out we’ve died

It is a place to stay and wait

Until they discover our fate

I’ll meet you there tonight at the creepy tree

Our secrets will be kept under lock and key

There’s no one there at night except you and me

I’ll meet you there tonight by the creepy tree

What we’ve done to be together

Shall bind and hold us forever

They will never put asunder

Even as they put us under

And by the time the church bells rang

And from these branches where we hang

Our names on stones they will engrave

When then they’ll lay us in our grave

I’ll meet you there tonight at the creepy tree

Our secrets will be kept under lock and key

There’s no one there at night except you and me

I’ll meet you there tonight by the creepy tree

There’s one more thing I need to say

Before it’s time to fade away

So to your heart I will confide

I’ll meet you on the other side

I’ll meet you there tonight at the creepy tree

Our secrets will be kept under lock and key

There’s no one there at night except you and me

I’ll meet you there tonight by the creepy tree

Eternal love by the creepy tree... I am such a sucker for your style of writing like this, it just flows and dances even through death and into the next xx

:-D Hi! Thanks for stopping by.
I always had a thing for creepy trees. Often times....I too will be driving down the road and a twisted looking house or tree will catch my eye. And I will wonder how long it had lived, what story does it have to tell....did lightening strike it....did it hold a tree house, a swing? If you think about it, some of these trees have been around for a lot longer than we have. Just imagine if they could talk about what they've been through and seen. It's only natural for your poem to suggest a tree as a secret sacred place. The tree see's all, hears all, but with it, our secrets are safe to keep.
