The Devil Has Come

The Devil Has Come

A Poem by Damian Gray

Into the darkness I slowly fell
With an icy hand upon my chest,
My soul a prisoner and trapped in a cell
The Devil had answered my one request.
For far too long I had wondered lost
And strayed far from hopeful light,
And yet these thoughts would have their cost
To evolve my days to night.

I feel this monster deep inside me
And yet I find I do not care,
The Devil’s guidance may yet revive me
And restore the ugly back to fare.
But now I see the road is clearer

And my soul is ready to embrace the night
The price is raised and becomes much dearer
But the Devil’s words are always right.

See here the tale of my dark possession
And farewell from the mind I had before,
His childish antics and petty intentions
Are not welcome beyond this door.
When troubled times demand a change
Only the fools are left behind,
Their souls detach and are now estranged
The Devil has left them dumb and blind.
