Atlantis: Sea of Dreams

Atlantis: Sea of Dreams

A Story by Damac
"

This was a story I started awhile back, but never got around to finishing. It's from in between Operation School and Rage in Death, so around summer 2010.

"
It was a beautiful day in Cape Cod, Massachusettes. The sun was shining, the water in the ocean was just the right temperature, and there was little wind. It was a perfect day to go to the beach. And thats exactly what siblings Kate, Andrew, Gabriel, and Sean were doing today. The childrens parents owned a nice house on the beach in which they stayed every summer. The chidren had all grown up with the house and they were 17, 15, 12, and 6 respectivley. On this day, they were
all playing on a wooden raft that floated in the water.
"Gabe what are you doing?" Andrew asked. Gabe turned around and faced Andrew looking annoyed.
"Im waiting for a big wave to push the raft up so I can jump higher." Kate looked at Gabe as if he was the stupidest person in the world.
"There won't be any waves because theres no wind." She looked over at Sean and saw him leaning over the side, "Andrew, can you watch him. He should have a life jacket. Moms gonna kill us for not making him wear one." Kate said, worried.
"Alright, Alright." Andrew said pulling Sean towards him as Sean laughed.
"Here it comes!" Gabe said.
Before anyone could react a massive wave hit the raft and sent them all under. The last thing Andrew remembered was seeing water eveywhere.

Andrew slowly woke up. His vision was blurred and he couldn't tell where he was. From what he could see he was in a small, dimly lit room. He was lying on some sort of bed but because of his vision and the lighting he couldn't tell what it was. Suddenly Andrew felt a large sharp pain in his right arm.
"Aghhhhhhhhh!" Andrew shouted in pain. His vision snapped back and Andrew realized two people, doctors, were standing over him. One of the doctors, a male, began to speak,
"Subject Beta has awoken and feels pain. Get me the gene for pain tolerence." The second doctor began to walk over to a table with several different colored vials on it. He picked up a blue one and began walking back. Andrew, thinking fast, rolled off the table and ran out the door. At this point he realized he was still wearing his swim trunks. Andrew ran through the incredibly dark hallways. He ran
and ran. Never looking back

The doctor watched as Andrew ran away. He walked over to PDA system and began to speak through it, "This is an emergency situation, Subject Beta has escaped containment. He has very little gene alteration but should be handled with extreme care. Do not attempt to kill Subject Beta. It is required that he be returned to me alive. As a reminder, Subjects Alpha, Delta, and Omega are also in the city. The same rules and guidelines apply to them. That is all." The Doctor turned around and sat down on his chair. He began to think about what went wrong with the process. The Nurse than spoke up, "You should have woken him and tested for pain last." The doctor looked at the nurse,
"It doesn't matter. He barley has enough elixir to mix at a mixing station. We just need him back."
The nurse looked right into the Doctors eyes. "Lets hope so." She said.

Andrew moved threw the darkened hallways. He looked all around. He seemed to be in some kind of city, but in between every store and hanging above him appeared to be glass. "What is this place?" Andrew thought to himself. Every store and building had its lights off. Andrew saw one store advertising electronics, specifically something it called Radio 2.0. Andrew walked up to the store and tried the door. "Crap!" Andrew shouted it was locked. Andrew, in anger. He kicked the
glass door and it shattered. All the glass fell out of the frame and onto the ground. Andrew stepped inside. He followed the signs to a table with a large device with an antenna on the top and screen in the center. He turned it on using an on switch and began fidling with the dials and buttons on the radio. "Hello, can anyone hear me?" Andrew asked. He was giving up hope that anyone else was in the city, let
alone his siblings.
"I hear you." A voice said. On the screen was Kate.
"Kate, what is this place?" Andrew asked. Kate looked around and chuckled to herself, she then looked back at Andrew " Your not going to believe, but i've been working on this Cities computer system and found at that this place... its... its..." Kate began to stutter, she was obviously distracted by something cause she was looking away from the screen. "What! What is it!" Andrew shouted. Kate turned back and looked Andrew directly in the face "We are in Atlantis." Andrew looked
at Kate with shock. "Its true. Here take this." Kate held a vial of
liquid in her hand. She crushed it and next second it appeared in
Andrews bathing suit pocket. "How did you do that." Andrew said,
shocked. Kate just smiled, "There is alot I need to tell you. One
thing you must know is, in case you heard the announcement, I am
Subject Alpha." Andrew looked puzzled "What does that mean?" Andrew
asked as he looked at the vial. "A man, called the Doctor, he kept me
in a coma and experimented on me. I was suppose to be the perfect
living seurity system for Atlantis. He messed with my head. I know
longer sleep and can do almost anything only with my mind." Andrew
looked at Kate. "What was Subject Beta supposed to do?"

"Lets see," Kate said "Subject Beta... ahh here we go. Subject Beta
was a second elite security system. Instead of remaining in one
location and monitoring the city, Subject Beta would wander the halls,
looking for any crimes to end." Andrew was listening but also fiddling
with the vial Kate had given him. "Just drink it already." Kate said,
annoyed. Andrew looked at the screen, "Okay, Okay." Andrew drank the
vial. Suddenly the whole store lit up. Andrew could see everything.
"Woah, what is this stuff?" Andrew asked as he looked at the vial. "It
is a gene formula. It is a temporary boost to your body, such as your
eyes. Its different than a gene enhancement which is permanent but an
be un-done. You will now see everything through nightvision until a
source of light gets turned on. By the way, you should start moving so
take this." Andrew felt another bump in his pocket. He reached in and
found a smaller, screenless radio. "Oh good" Andrew said "At least I
don't have to carry this thing anymore." Andrew said as he threw the
Radio 2.0 away. "Alright, get going." Kate said. Andrew rushed to the
door to exit the shop. But he stopped and asked Kate one more question
over the radio. "Kate, whatever happened to Sean and Gabe?"

"I don't know..." Kate said, reluctantly. "I've been using the
computer to search for them and cant find them anywhere. Andrew, can
you find them?"
Andrew stopped moving, "I'll try."
"Alright first you have to get to Atlantis Center. The Center has the
City hall and the whole city is controlled from there."
"Where are you?"
"I am at Central Computing. I've been here for days which is why I can
tell you all this. I've been doing constant research, but I have no
control over the city. But I can look on every computer in it."
Andrew thought for a second. Something in the sentence sounded odd,
but at the moment he couldn't think of what it was.
"Where am I?" He asked.
"Just a second." Andrew could hear Kate typing things. "You are in the
Atlantis Market. Its a pretty popukar place, so I would get out while
you still can."
"Understood." Andrew said "But is there anyway to get me clothes right
now?"
"Not at the moment, go."
Andrew groaned and headed for the door. Just as he was reaching it, he
heard it open. He quickly ran and hid among some pipes while two men
walked in.
"... Is somewhere in here, or at least thats what I heard from the
news report."
"Here if we see Subject Beta lets get the messengers ready." The Man
took out a small device, "We can tell The Doctor about it in seconds
and he can have the Nurse announce it."
"Alright."
The two men pressed buttons on their small devices. Andrew didn't
think about it. He brushed his blonde hair out of his eyes and watched
te two men. They began to turn on lights in the market and Andrews
vision went from Nightvision to normal color.
"Ohhh, Subject Beta." The left man, he was short, bald, and a little
bit tubby, "Come out, come out, wherever you are."
The other man, taller and thinner, hit him, "No fooling around, lets
just find him."
The man took out a small vial of blue liquid. He drank it and for a
second Andrew saw the mans veins glowing blue.
"Whats that gonna do Charlie?" The short man asked.
"Just wait..." Charlie said. He closed his eyes and clapped his hands.
Andrew realized what he was doing. He had increased his hearing so
that he could detect disturbances in the area. It was called
echolocation. He was waiting for the echo to bounce off Andrew and
return to him.

Charlie looked up, "He's over there." He said, and pointed right at
Andrew.

Andrew was inthe dark, hidden by the shadows. He saw Charlie and short
man walking towards him. Andrew thought quickly, he pulled and pulled
on one of the old rusted pipes and manged to break it off. Water began
to rush everywhere and pooled around Andrews bare feet. He held the
pipe in his hands and began to plan his attack.

"Andrew? Andrew, whats going on?" Kate began to say into the radio.
She began to try and establish a video feed from security cameras but
found no such thing. "How did they expect Subject Alpha to work with
just a map and augmentation?" Kate said to herself. She could still
here the sond of rushing water coming through her radio. She closed
her eyes and tried to imagine what the water looked like. Maybe then
she could help Andrew somehow. The second she closed her eyes her
vision changed to an image of the market. She saw two men moving
towards the darkness, but quickly snapped her eyes open.
"I can see anything I want!" She quickly realized.

"Andrew duck!" Andrew heard over the radio. He ducked and heard
something woosh over his head, followed by a man saying, "We have
foujd Subject Beta, send security."
Andrew dived out of the darkness and tackled one of the men, Charles
to the ground.
"Get off me you fool!" Charles shouted, Andrew brought the pipe down
hard on his skull and Charles stopped moving. Short man looked up, and
with intense fear in his eyes, turned and ran away.

"Andrew quick use this!" Kate said into tue radio. A vial appeared in
Andrews pocket. He quickly drank it. His arms began to feel strange,
like he was gaining strength but they weren't changing at all.
"Throw the pipe, Quick!"
Andrew looked at short man, he tossed the pipe which soared through
the air with intense force and impaled short man in the stomac.
