ObservationsA Chapter by DamacWe take a step back and follow an Alien, Slosheey, who observes the battle of New York City first hand.
Slosheey watched out the window of the ship. He stared at the blue planet past the window. Earth. At least that's what the creatures on the surface of the planet called it. The Arc had no records of it. It was strange that such a large alliance of space-bound races had never even caught wind of this planet. It was the Arc's mission to catalog every race in existence and determine whether they were "worthy" to live or not. Slosheey was to enter a specific part of "Earth" that had been experiencing a lot of military activity.
"Slosheey" he heard from behind himself. "Yes Ratemeey?" Slosheey said with a little annoyance in his voice. "Are you ready to leave yet" Ratemeey asked tossing Slosheey his lightning staff. Slosheey caught it in midair. "Yes father let us leave?" "You realize I'm not coming." "I know, but it was habit to ask you so." Ratemeey gave Slosheey a warning blow to the side o the chest area. "Break that habit. Now get out there and make your ancestors proud." As Slosheey made his way to his shuttle his "assistant", Payay, ran over. Payay was a member of a race known as the Ramany. Despite how most of Slosheeys race treated Ramany, Slosheey considered Payay his friend. "Sir, Sir" Payay said "I have all your weapons and equipment ready for our trip!" "You’re coming?" "Of course! Why wouldn't I?" "I guess I just felt that I was going this one alone." "Why?" "I'll tell you during the ride." With that the two of them climbed into the shuttle and were off. Slosheey lay awake as he thought about his upcoming mission. He watched Payay. The small creature slept so comfortably. His small round body and stubby legs and arms were wrapped up into a ball as he slept on the bed. Yet he seemed nervous to. But Slosheey pasted this off as a dream that the young Ramany was having. Slosheey turned his head back to the ceiling. He tried to bore himself to sleep by clicking his six lips together to achieve a constant clicking sound like a clock. However his tail bouncing up and down to the rhythm of the clicks continued to keep him awake. He began to think of what his mission was. Arrive on earth in the militarized zone. Spy on the creatures and capture any intelligence programs. After that the Arc's Patriarchs would decide whether or not they let these creatures live. Or they kill them. Slosheey ran possible mission outcome scenarios through his head and decided that he would be fine. He then went back to sleep to rest. "Do you worry for him?" The Patriarch asked Ratemeey. "No, he is part of my heritage, my blood. He is my flesh and blood. The same flesh of warriors. The same blood as heroes." Ratemeey responded. "You have no worries at all?" the Patriarch said. "Not at all." The patriarch just looked out the window. With no legs, just a round body with a short neck that pushed its head out wards and short frail arms, he sighed at the father’s blindness. How could he not see that his son, no matter how well trained, was in danger of losing his life? The arc did not know a thing about these creatures and they were sending a young boy to investigate for them? It did not seem right but after the civil wars that had sprung up with in the arcs social classes it was the best thing to do. The real soldiers had either been killed in the civil war or left in the ship to prevent another one. Either way the patriarch had to know about these creatures and he had to know now. Slosheey woke up to a loud humming noise. He looked over to see Payay at the controls. "Were here!" Payay said loudly. So it begins, Slosheey thought to himself, so it begins. Slosheey and Payay exited the shuttle. "Turn on the shuttles cloaking" Slosheey instructed "We must move now and find the militarized zone." The two moved slowly through a small forest and urban environment. Slosheey had decided to leave his cloaking device at the shuttle as he did not feel he needed it. After a short run the two reached the militarized zone. It was one big building. Slosheey and Payay watched from inside a small creek. Slosheey watched through a laser scope. He activated thermal sights and watched as tiny figures walked through the hallways of the school. They held rifles and some seemed to be running to the same location. They would all move to different locations, stop moving, look as if they were climbing something, and then disappear. "Vehicles" Slosheey said. "What?" "Vehicles, Large ones. They seem to all be entering them." "Do you think they know we are here.”? "No and even if they did there's no way they could tell we weren't from this planet. They would just think that we were animals." Slosheey looked back through the thermal scope. As he watched his scope was blinded by a sudden amount of heat. Slosheey backed off the scope and looked out at the same location. Three large ships rose into the sky and flew away. "Track those ships" Slosheey said. "What?" Payay responded. "Track those ships. Wherever they are going we will probably find the answer to our mission. Whether they live or die." Slosheey and Payay returned to the shuttle. As Slosheey went to get a small vehicle out of the shuttle he gave Payay instructions. "Stay at the shuttle. Stay on the radio and give me instructions on where they are heading. You will be able to track them but not me because I'm going to go into cloaking. If I get into immediate, life threaten danger because of these... Things call in an invasion force and let's finish this fight." "Alright, good luck." Payay said. "Thank you. Stay safe my friend" Slosheey said as he took the vehicle out of the shuttle. The vehicle had two big wheels in the back and anti-gravity fields in the front. It also had a single large lightning cannon on the front. As Slosheey boarded the hunter it became cloaked. He then drove off listening to Payays instructions. He thought to himself "Stay safe." Slosheey rode towards where he could see the ships had just left. "Your about to near a bridge" Payay said "There seems to be an army convoy on the road to the bridge. Blend in with them and you should get inside the landing zone easily with no problems." "What are they doing in the zone?" "It seems they are building up bunkers for some reason. The convoys are probably going to be dropping off reinforcements." "Understood." Slosheey continued to drive with the convoy. Every once and awhile a driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy would turn and look at Slosheey. Every time the driver would shrug it off. As the convoy neared the end of the bridge there was an explosion. Bullets flew and soldiers were knocked off of their vehicles. Slosheey watched as an explosion sent him flying off the Hunter and seen it into the water. Slosheey stood up and looked around. He heard the hum of an engine nearing behind him. Slosheey stuck out his arm, grabbed the driver out of the vehicle, shot him with the lightning gun, and dropped him to the ground. Slosheey then took the vehicle and drove it straight towards the bunkers. Phil watched in amazement as one of his Special Operation jeeps drove away with no driver! Phil was amazed but returned to the battle at hand, deciding the jeep would be destroyed in seconds. Alex watched out the bunker window. Andrew had already left to save the operatives in the destroyed bunker. Alex was reloading his Rocket Launcher when Nicole pointed out something strange. "Do you see that?" "What?" "It’s a Special Operations jeep coming this way... with no one in it." Alex looked up to see this for himself and sure enough the jeep was moving without a driver. He aimed his launcher, fired, and destroyed it. "There, now it won't distract you anymore." Slosheey heard a ringing in his ears as the jeep exploded. He fell to the side and rolled. He pushed himself up and ran the rest of the way to the bunkers. He climbed into one and moved to the back. He watched as two soldiers fought through the small window. A male and female. They fought bravely and caused the deaths of many of their enemy. Slosheey started to believe that the Arc could easily absorb them into their ranks when... Then he noticed something. The two who were fighting in front of him were years and years younger than the soldiers who they were fighting. Slosheey used his bio-com and found the two soldiers in front of him were 11 earth years. The enemy soldiers were anywhere from 18-48. Slosheey realized he was nearing his decision. Slosheey exited the bunker. As he walked out to analyze and organize his data he thought he heard something entering the bunker. He turned to see no one. He walked to the back of the bunker and sat down resting. Slosheey heard an explosion from inside the bunker he went around to watch as the two young soldiers and two others ruses out coughing and rubbing their eyes. He heard gunfire from inside the bunker and saw a young male on the ground. The boy began to crawl into the bunker and Slosheey followed him in. The boy crawled, obviously injured, to the body of a final male child. The boy grabbed him and pulled him out. Before Slosheey exited he searched the dead body of the enemy soldier. No intelligence units and nothing of value. Slosheey exited. Slosheey followed the children onto one of their ships. The two injure boys were lain on the floor. Everyone else sat in seats near the front of the ship. Slosheey grabbed the bar at ceiling and stood as the ship began to take off and the back closed. Slosheey looked down at the boy who had crawled back into the bunker. Such bravery would not go un-rewarded. Slosheey knelt down and left a healing unit in the boy’s armor. "That should heal him faster." Slosheey thought to himself. Slosheey sat in one of the seats. He laid back and rested. Knowing this is only the beginning. © 2011 Damac |
