Teen Heartbreak CartelA Poem by The Winter GreyCall me a thief, Because I will steal your heart tonight. Call me a killer, Because without me you won't survive. Call me an arsonist, Because I'm rekindling the flame. Call me a sinner, Because I want you and I'm not ashamed.
We are not the heroes to your story. We will trade your virtue for a moment of glory. Cheap wine in a cheaper hotel. You'll fall in love then wish you hadn't - we are the teen heartbreak cartel.
Call me a liar, Because I will rewrite your every truth. Call me a criminal, Because I will tarnish your days of youth. Call me an animal, Because it is instinct in which I thrive. Call me your drug, Because I will make you feel alive.
We are not the princes of your dreams. We will write you down as just another memory. Cheap lines and a ticket to hell. You'll fall apart then curse the name - of the teen heartbreak cartel.
Substance? Please! You're making me laugh. You've made the trade-off, wheat for the chaff. By the time you find out it's too late to accuse. You're already accustomed to the quiet abuse. Reached for an ace but pulled out a joker. Surface perfection to mask mediocre. It isn't our fault that you buy what we sell. Raise your glass high, you're sweet nothings to us - the teen heartbreak cartel. © 2012 The Winter GreyAuthor's Note
