DawnA Poem by Daltin Bydeed
Dawn Have you ever looked upon the stars? What did you feel as you gazed at those pinpricks of light? Were you content, just gazing for the moment? Were you sad, being lost in a memory of long ago? Were those memories of friends, who you just now remembered? Was it those memories that stirred your heart, Bringing those tears? Or was it something else? Were you pondering, As you watched those orbs? Were you wondering of the future, And what it might bring, Whose lives you might change, Friendships you might make, Or deeds that you might do? Or did you feel reassurance, As you gazed upon those stars? Reassurance that those lights are untouchable? Even if one goes dim, and winks out of existence, It still exists in memory, Because it was there, You saw it. And it was that shining light that helped you through. Did you ever wonder who over the years might have done the same? Did you wonder how many heroes’ and villains have looked at those same stars? How many stories have been woven under those skies? How many other lives have been touched by that small, Seemingly insignificant, Point of light? So as the dawn approaches, Remember that light, And remember these words. That a star may shine upon your morning, That when the clouds of darkness do come, You may look all the more upon that shining light. That you will not be lost in the blackness. Hold on to that light and let it guide you through the night of evil. Because even when that day passes and night comes again, There are still those stars, Spread and woven among the sky. © 2008 Daltin Bydeed |
