A Billion Butterflies Flutter By

A Billion Butterflies Flutter By

A Poem by Dale Pavolko

A billion butterflies flutter by
Upon their wings deaths winking eyes

These pampered pets from Hades fly
Jeweled tears soar on Satan’s sighs
A billion butterflies flutter by
A billion perfect poignant lies
Beautiful fluttering butterflies
Listen listen dew drops glisten
Whispers sighs butterfly cries
Don’t you bereave the butterflies
Rainbows burning butterfly fires
Whispers lies truth that dies liar liar
Butterflies born in Hades shady groves
Part of Satan’s red red treasure trove
Wings of dribbling toxic blood
Dribbling blood becomes a flood
Bleeding Butterflies snuff the sun
Listen to him he’s the laughing one
Butterflies that sting and bite
Butterflies that haunt the night
Butterflies that eat the dead
Butterflies will find you in your bed
Red Red dead dead here they come
Butterflies! Butterflies! Run! Run!
