Menacing Grey

Menacing Grey

A Poem by Dale Pavolko

Breathe the chunky air
Fill your tattered lungs
With peppered red
Watch as gloom gathers day
and light fades away

A single ray
of blue on grey
Malingers in opaque eyes
The opiate of sunset
Slides you into a
Scar stacked night
Brittle as baked bone
There is a crunch in
Your step

Call the watchman
Guard the cheese
They are not coming
They are already here

There is that dark, enveloping feeling as the sun slips behind the horizon and shadows encroach... a hunger that comes on the emptiness of night... Powerful and menacing work.

Unique poem and its great....Guard that cheese!

Interesting poem, with a good rhythm and flow. Little confusion about the cheese, however.
