an audience for thee

an audience for thee

A Poem by Murisaka

How awkward it seems to them
their strange dark covered faces guarded from him.
But the joke remains on all the others
even their sisters and their brothers
whom they battle, and still fight
just to stay with him one more night.
Beauty never mattered one said
it was just personality, what you hold in your head.
Nay said another of the masked dames
do you not see its all about flames.
The last of the lasses finally gave in
what do you wish of us, who's name shall you win?
None of you the voice in the darkness flared
only if you had not been so scared.
The most precious thing that I desire
be it not beauty, passion, nor who's name you sire
but let it be love that i cherish most
unfortunately it was something none of you could boast

this reminds me of of the Judgement of Paris, very nicely written, I really like the rhyme scheme and how the poem just flows.
