The Race

The Race

A Story by Dakshta

It all started when we were just sperms, we had to compete with other 1000 sperms to come in this world. Finally we won the race and came into this oh so beautiful world and were just trying to catch some breath when suddenly we were surrounded by unknown faces, and before we could understand what is going on another race started without even a warning; one face said that we will be a doctor; one said we’ll be an engineer, one said Elbert Einstein and then the other one said us to be an actor.

When we grew a bit, we were taught that life is really tough and that it’s a race which we have to win at any cost. School, college, work, everywhere we did our best to come first. I agree, life is tough……..but why such hurry? What’s the point in freaking out that “Oh my god!!? He/she got much better grades than me!!” or that “Oh my god!!? He/she got better promotion or bonus!!”

We all have expectations from our future and others too have expectations from us but I mean who doesn’t have? But living the life that we have today is a better idea instead of worrying about the future. Worrying gives you nothing but dark circles and wrinkles. Just let the future stay in the future, don’t let it ruin your present. I’m not saying that we should forget about everything and everyone and sit in front of the TV with beer in hand. No. We all should work and should give other people time too and hear what they want. Just don’t work so much that you even forget that there is a beer in the fridge waiting for you (or if you are underage like me than there’s an ice-cream waiting for you, but that’s a different topic).

All I’m saying is that, you need a break. Your legs are seriously going to fall off you don’t stop now. Why run when you can just walk? You are running so fast that you don’t even know what just past you. It could have been a really pretty flower that maybe you will never get a chance to see again or hell it could have been a freaking orange alien!

So wear a headphone, play your faivrout music and get the heck out of your office, home, classroom or wherever you are sitting right now. Read your faivrout book, play fetch with your dong in a park, go talk to your old friends or just walk in the part of town where you have never gone before and make some new friends.

A little time for yourself won’t hurt, you know…

Welcome :)
This was so good, and so true! People always seem to look o the future and want everything to happen "right away" they don't know what they are missing! There's a saying "not everyday is good, but there's something good in everyday" I try to find that "something good" in each day and it really makes you think about and enjoy life at present, ya know?(:
