WhereA Poem by Dakremember when you get to leave. can't waitWhen I was a
child, this distinct sensation of joy consumed me, even if my occupation for
the day included nothing but staring at the clouds.
I’m seventeen, a
junior in high school, and I wonder where my joy has gone. Perhaps it fled
along with my friends years ago. I’m not sure, but since it left I’ve truly been
alone.
Months pass
“Why don’t you
talk more? You really need to engage with people” I hear muffled by the sound
of music playing in my headphones. Why can’t they
leave me alone? They had no problem with it before, when I needed them.
It’s hard to
feel alive when you’ve witnessed all there is to offer for miles… I need to
leave. It’s so dull living in a cave.
Hang in there
joy, I’ll find you soon. We’ll be
together again. Somehow. © 2015 DakAuthor's Note
