Vegrandis Nex pro Vegrandis Diligo (Tiny Deaths for Tiny Lovers)

A Poem by Amber Doll
"

A collective description of my...old flames.

"
They loved as children, fiercely but fickle.
And in the evening, as adults do;
Dying little deaths, for sleep to ensue.
No favor deterred, no gesture too little.
She fought resiliently, though emerged bruised.

Knowing, all the while, ambrosia would sustain him.
He, that hungry god, with an open heart;
Takes his fill, then flees, away and apart.
From forlorn eyes, lips that sing doubtful hymns.
We, content as fools, do enjoy the art.

and the steadfast servant to his heart's will
Sword or pen unsheathed, O' friend! say we must!
So that we dutifully, at closed dusk,
May return to that nurture, that embrace, that thrill!
And O' that happy sword, into herself, did she thrust.

So bless those eyes and lips that faithfully wait.
We belonged to the night, forevermore.
In spite of that sunrise we strove to endure.
Forever focused upon midnight hues as they undulate.
Ever young, ever chaste, ever sure.

Author's Note

Amber Doll
There's a whole metaphor explaining what a 'small death' is.
The double entendre, derives from a french phrase that goes,
'La petite mort' type that into google and give yourself a brief lesson in romance, sexual metaphors and death.
