The Mornin' HawkA Poem by Dai EdenburoughThis poem is about a redtail hawk that I see EVERY TIME I drive into school. This morin', as I was driving to school, I spotted a redtail hawk, sitting on a telephone poll. He was jsut sitting ther, on top of the world. HIs vision never goin' into a swirl. Siting there, perfectly still, looking over his domain. Looking for a mouse, possibly hungry for some brains. Not another bird in his cloudless sky, For they do not wish to say their last goodbye. He is never buffeted by the wind gusts. Nor has he ever bitten the dust. So every morin', as I pass by, I find myself wondering "Why?" "Why are you always sitting on the telephone pole? As I drive, on my way to school." © 2011 Dai EdenburoughReviews
