Blue Waters The Sky

Blue Waters The Sky

A Poem by DAH
"

we come from this

"

                       The oceans remember

us, moving

to the shore

waves and more waves

remembering

The sand is silent

like still-breath

holding to the ribs

a body of saline

and footprints

There are waves

that do not survive

their shallow ending

exiled

against the shore

in sand and salt

I step

into the sea

and I am

everywhere

a light wind, light touch

blue waters the sky

We come from this

and still

we are nothing

but a feeling

a moment

this beginning that ends

i love to go to the shore. it fascinates me. there is much that can be gleaned from your words but what i was thinking as i read was how we are always searching for hope, freedom and an ideal which are elusive if not truly unobtainable. nature is hope & love and in the end that is all we really have. i love nature and your 'wave' action was reflective and deeply thought-provoking. some survive and others do not - the cycle of life and sometimes cruel reality of creation. we see what we want to see ... :)

Like the waves your words quickly rise and fall, few syllables in brief stanzas, beginnings that conclude themselves.

The waves that do not survive
Have never thought of them that way

... as long as it's a playful jealous (smiles)

Thank you, Dave!
another excellent poem..."and still we are nothing"
i can tell you where this took me...the first people who came to this country from the ocean...to the shores and then how we acted like we owned the place after the native americans shared with us...
we slaughtered them and put them on reservations..
that was a beginning that ended much.
i still feel regret...and i was not there...just regrets...
you capture this feeling for me in this poem.

I feel your angst and helplessness, jacob.

I'm happy that this one resonates.

As a fellow wave watcher, I have sat on many a lonesome beach at midnight listening to the rhythmic call of the sea, blue waters the sky and the sky bleeds to blue, good stuff,

Yes, to wave watching, eternally.

Thank you, gram!

"a light wind, light touch
blue waters the sky
We come from this
and still
we are nothing..."

The syntax of this verse is most stimulating to me. There's something extraordinary about the line - "blue waters the sky". Then, the realization that we are made up of that ocean...it staggers the mind.

Love waves, Robert, they're our breath, life, umbilical cord. We are oceans walking on land.

Ocean waves have varied meanings for different people as has the vastness of the ocean itself. I am always aware of just how small I am in the overall picture when I stand before the sea. Some fine imagery here.
