Shoes

Shoes

A Poem by Poetic Injustice

Today I saw her crying and I understood

Her heart she gave for an exchange, though he never would

And the mud on her shoes told me of her walk out in the rain

Trying hard to rectify what she could not fully explain ...

... If you looked close enough, in her eyes you'd see her pain

~~~~~
I've been in her shoes before
Walked a mile or more, til my heart was sore
And it hurts me just to see her wearing them
Yes, I was in her shoes back then
I tripped and fell and it felt like hell
Who knows, perhaps I'll put them on again
~~~~~

A man taken by such emotion can be mistaken for less than

Yet it's oft disguised `neath a wall of lies and a strut, though their heart is shaken

Those shoes are too familiar, though I don't wear them anymore

I took them off but there they sit, paired up beside the door ...

... and who knows what tomorrow has in store?

~~~~~
I've been in her shoes before
Walked a mile or more, til my heart was sore
And it hurts me just to see her wearing them
Yes, I was in in her shoes back then
I tripped and fell and it felt like hell
Who knows, perhaps I'll put them on again
Hey...just you leave those old shoes where they are Captain !! The soles are weary and tired even a bit battered and aged just as your own soul would again take the brunt. So...you will walk with a new pair, head up high, shoulders back and find out for yourself..that these brand new shoes are much more "fitting," in both senses of the word ! Maybe your toes will pinch a little some odd day or two...so what ??? Bathe them in the luxury of life !!
I loved this. Very well expressed and the comparison is fabby !! Thanks so much for sharing.
I have a pair of worn out shoes just like those. Walked in them till the trad is thin as paper. I love this piece!!!!
Hoping they never go my feet again, and can keep as a reminder of where I have been. Yes, I really like this one. Nicely done.
But you got back up again. This is a beautiful work about the pain that many go through in the "walk of love." Sometimes it pours the rain until our clothes cannot stick any tighter to the skin and you peel them off like you would like to do to the emotions that cause this sad walk. But then there are days that you just want to kick the shoes off and run through the coolness of the evening grass chasing the laughter of the one running just within arms reach in front of you. You have a very talented pen, my friend. Your writing causes one to stop and think.
