ShoesA Poem by Poetic InjusticeToday I saw her crying and I understood Her heart she gave for an exchange, though he never would And the mud on her shoes told me of her walk out in the rain Trying hard to rectify what she could not fully explain ... ... If you looked close enough, in her eyes you'd see her pain ~~~~~ I've been in her shoes before Walked a mile or more, til my heart was sore And it hurts me just to see her wearing them Yes, I was in her shoes back then I tripped and fell and it felt like hell Who knows, perhaps I'll put them on again ~~~~~ A man taken by such emotion can be mistaken for less than Yet it's oft disguised `neath a wall of lies and a strut, though their heart is shaken Those shoes are too familiar, though I don't wear them anymore I took them off but there they sit, paired up beside the door ... ... and who knows what tomorrow has in store? ~~~~~ I've been in her shoes before Walked a mile or more, til my heart was sore And it hurts me just to see her wearing them Yes, I was in in her shoes back then I tripped and fell and it felt like hell Who knows, perhaps I'll put them on again © 2009 Poetic InjusticeFeatured Review
