Not Quite What I Expected

Not Quite What I Expected

A Poem by Poetic Injustice
"

Penned earlier this year. Resonating in me during the holiday.

"

When I first saw you, curiosity bit
I strolled over, nonchalant
Asking you if I could sit,
You acquiesced to my want
~
It soon became quite apparent
Electricity arced, something grew
And before the evening was spent
I was taken with ... taken by ... you
~
From the moment we met I was never the same
Before body, touching soul and mind
And so, friends and lovers we became
An adventurous path began to unwind
~
I've learned to release expectation
Living in the here and now
Appreciating each other's attention
Whenever life will allow
~
And those moments, precious and few
Are all the more priceless as such
A connection remains `tween I and you
Whether through thought or whether through touch
~
And now where'er I travel
You are inside of me
Horizons broaden, knots unravel
I've grown to appreciate mystery
~
You were not quite what I expected
High as such it ran
You surpassed, surprised, connected
And for it I'm a much better man

Ah, this is really well done...
I'm not usually into this topic, but I really like this one piece.

Molly,
