Normal Again?

Normal Again?

A Poem by Poetic Injustice

The weight lifts

Breathing is less labored

The sob that hitches occasionally in my speech has almost disappeared

The thoughts drifting to her ... drift less

A numbness replaces the sting

The face becomes neutral, harder to read

Lethargy is replaced with energy for projects at work and at home

Romantic distraction, wistful attraction are replaced with desperate creativity

No more exciting moments of contact

No more hearing in her voice an appreciation of my advances

No more dreaming of an eventual realization of romance

It's only been a day .... let this not be just coping

Nice! BTW, be easy, it has its appeal.

Excellent writing and it only takes a few months for sleep patterns to return and to eat regularly.
