Chapter one

Tyanne

As I watch my friends and my sister in the swimming pool having a water war, I feel someone step up behind me. I turn and see Katie’s boyfriend Griffin. He has dark brown hair, almost black. His eyes are an unusual reddish brown, more red then brown.
“ Why must you sneak up like that? Cant you for once knock?” It disturbs me how he can sneak up on a hunter like me, without me even hearing it. Its unnatural. Griffin just looks at me and doesnt answer. That is unnatural too, and it creeps me out more than him sneaking up on me. He never answers, actually I dont think I have ever heard him talk, he just stares at you and it seems like he is looking into your soul. Creepy.

“ Ummm... Katie, Griffin is here. Come save me from the talkless wonder please.” He still didn’t say anything. Damn. I think I am gonna try to get him to say something, even if it kills me. Hmmm... I think I just made up a new game that I can include Nikki and Ceara in. Katie hops out of the pool and lopes towards us, the reddish hues shining like blood against her black hair in the sunlight. Griffin smiles and puts his arms around her, and without saying anything, walks into the house. I wonder if they even talk or if they just stare at each other all the time. I guess I will have to ask. I lope towards Nikki and Ceara who are still having a water fight but stop as soon as I get near.

“ Hey Dagger, whats up?” My sister is almost glowing in the light. Which is probally why we call her Sunshine. My nickname is Dagger, because I really like knives. Actually, we all do. So I have no clue why, maybe I should ask.

“ Hey Sunshine, Whats up Honey? I have come up with a new past-time game. We are gonna try to get Griffin to speak. Whoever gets him to speak first will get the first drink tonight.” At the mention of alcohol, they both perk up.
“ And what drink is it?” My silly, silly sister.
“ Anything with Vodka of course.” Instantly, they both start thinking about how to win the Vodka. I can just imagine the wheels turning and ideas springing up behind their eyes. I hear Katie returning, and it sounds like she is alone. Then I turn around, and realize that Griffin is still with her. Damn, he is really creepy. And very quiet.
“ Hey chicas, what are we talking about?” Holy S**t!!!! I think all of our jaws drop as Nikki, Ceara and I realized Griffin just spoke to us. Oddly, he just grinned like he read my mind. Ummm, he just did it again. Creepy.
“ Ummm... nothing really. Just chilling.” That was to weird, I cant believe I am having an actual conversation with Griffin. And he is just standing there looking at us like he can read our minds.

“ So Katie, what are we doing later?” I turn my attention to Katie because Griffin is starting to freak me out. Katie looked startled as I brought her back to earth.
“ Sorry, what? I wasnt paying attention.” Everyone chuckled at that. There is Katie for you, always staring into space. I repeated the question for her and took a sip of my screwdriver. None of the others seem to have realized I was drinking already. I wonder how long it will take them to notice.

“ Well I think we were gonna have a barbecue and then just get f*****g drunk.”
“ Oh, I love that idea.” Nikki read my mind, and I think my sister did also, for she is nodding her head vigorously. Griffin seems to not like the idea of his girlfriend drinking, but as usual, doesnt say anything.
“ So Dagger, why is your nickname Dagger?” It took me a minute to realize he was addressing me, because that was the second time in five minutes I had heard him speak. Ever.
“ Her nickname is dagger because she tends to get straight to the point. And you dont f**k with her or she will put a dagger through your heart. And she really likes daggers” My sister answered for me. Now I wont have to ask why that was my nickname.
“ Come on, I only stabbed one guy. And he deserved it, that lying b*****d.” Suddenly everyone gets quiet as we all remember Zephyr. Well, we girls got quiet, Griffin just looked interested. Too bad no one was gonna tell him. Unwillingly, the memory came to me.

* Tyanne's Memory*
There was only one man I ever truly loved and he is sitting across from me. Zephyr had bronze skin with chocolate brown eyes and silky black hair. I wanted him to know about our secret, but I wasnt sure if he would still love me if he found out I was also a f*****g tiger. I wanted to tell him so bad, I decided to tell him that night. I felt like a goddamn teenager going on her first date. I had the butterfly feeling in my stomach, the sweaty palms, and the fast beating heart. God I truly loved him.




“ So I am gonna tell Zephyr tonight.” I had announced this to my sisters earlier that day. They had looked at me like I was speaking Chinese or something. I almost think they tried to talk me out of it, but I went ahead and did it anyway. I should have listened to them, it would have saved me a hell of a lot of trouble. I had walked into Zephyr’s house and went to his room. He had the door locked, which was unusual. Then I heard the voices.
“ Are you sure they dont know you know about them?” A womans voice.
“ I am positive.” Zephyr.
“ Well, which one is which?” Another mans voice.
“ Well that one is a falcon, that one is a raven, the other blonde is a lion. And this b***h is a tiger.” I felt dizzy as I heard Zephyr tell these two people about my sisters and I.
“ Well, they wont be bothering you much longer. We will take care of them real soon baby. I wont let those b*****s bother my boyfriend anymore.” The woman said. I felt a hot feeling seep into my blood. Rage. Zephyr not only told someone our secret, but he was also cheating on me. Or maybe it was all a lie, and he was just using me to get information.
“ Thank you sweetheart, I knew I could count on you.” That f*****g b*****d, he is gonna pay for this. I ran out of the house as fast as I could and sprinted home. I told my sisters to get out of the house and into the woods to hide. They wouldn’t and kept asking why. I finally got them to leave when I threw the vase at the door frame and screamed at them to get out. I then flew to my room and got dressed into my hunters outfit. It was consisted of Cargo pants and a black tank top that exposed my lean belly. I grabbed the gun holster that went with it, and my dagger’s sheath. I jumped out of my window and into the night. I stalked to Zephyr’s house. I looked into all windows and found him in his bedroom looking at a picture of me. He seemed detached as he lit the photo on fire. I went to the room next to his and quietly opened the window and jumped in, landing softly on my feet. I walked quietly to his room and stood in his doorway and watched as he got rid of all evidence of me.

“ Hey Baby.” My voice was like ice, and I felt some satisfaction in watching him jump when he heard my voice. He turned to me and all color drained from his face as he took in my pissed off expression, or maybe at the dagger I held in my hand.
“ What are you doing here Tyanne?” He seemed scared. I wonder why.
“ Well I thought I would stop by and say hi. Well actually that was earlier. Then I heard you telling some people a certain something that you should not have told them. Then I heard a certain s**t call you her boyfriend, and well call me crazy, but I think I heard you call her Sweetheart. Then I realized you were nothing but a conniving b*****d and that I really, really f*****g hate you.” As I was talking, he moved towards the desk drawer. Then I realized he was heading towards the gun in the drawer.
“ Whats the matter Zephyr, scared of me? You wont need the gun, so stop moving towards it.” As I spoke, I moved closer to him, bringing the dagger into full view.
“ Please dont kill me Tyanne. Think of all that we had together.” That a*****e, he was trying to make me feel guilty. To bad I couldn’t feel anything at that moment. I moved towards him and easily lifted him up by the front of his shirt.
“ You see sweetie, when I think of all that we had, it pisses me off because I now know the truth. You sold us out, you used me, and you are a lying, cheating a*****e that deserves to die. Fortunately for you, I dont want to kill you.” I drop him and start for the door when I hear something whiz past me and a searing pain in my upper right arm. I turn around to see him pointing the gun at me.

“ But you see b***h, I have no problem killing you.” He started to aim the gun at my heart, but I was faster and suddenly he found the blade of my dagger in his heart. I growled into his face.
“ You f*****g B*****d!!! Now you wont use anyone anymore.” I pulled my blade out and wiped the blood on his shirt before I let him fall to the ground. His face had the frozen expression of shock and pain as he took his last breath and died on the floor, his blood puddling around him. I screamed a wordless, rage filled scream and disappeared into the night. We had to move far away, from those people, but still look over our shoulders at the thought of them there, searching for us.



As the memory left me, I felt the stinging pain of tears forming behind my eyes. I turned away and left for the house before any of them could see me cry. I burst into the front door and raided the bar for Vodka. I took the bottle to my room and slammed the door shut. Only Nikki and I are old enough to drink, but Ceara is nineteen and Katie is eighteen, so we let it slide. I drank the whole bottle of Vodka, plus a half of another before I started to feel the pain go away. Why did that memory have to resurface? I almost had got over it and had almost forgotten about it. Why couldn’t it stop haunting me? I started to cry again. I could feel the hot tears stream down my cheek and feel them fall to the floor below, but at least I couldn’t feel the pain anymore.






Griffin'

I felt bad as I watched the hunter run away to safety. It was my fault, but she dont know it. All afternoon I had been reading her thoughts, using them to scare her. When I heard the thoughts on Zephyr, I got interested and decided to see for myself what happened. I should have left it alone. What I found out is that she was betrayed by the person she really loved and when he tried to kill her, she beat him to it. It made me think of the time my love betrayed me, back when I was first turned into what I am.

*Griffin's Memory*

Sweet laughter filled the air as my sweet Audriana entered the room. Her golden curls shone in the sunlight that poured into the room. Her smile brightened the room instantly.
“ Griffin dear, how was your nap?” She was a vampire. She was at least a few centuries old. I was still a human, but she promised to turn me as soon as we got married. Our wedding was in three days and the air was buzzing with excitement.
“ It was wonderful darling, I dreamt of you and me.” I loved her with my whole heart. She walked up to me and put her arms around me. Her hair smelled of lilacs. She always smelled of lilacs. We walked to the garden and sat under the lilac tree near the pond, which had two swans swimming gracefully on it. She looked up at me and turned serious.

“ Griffin dear, I cant wait. I will turn you tonight, that way, we can share the night together.” I felt joy fill me up inside. I smiled at her and she answered my smile with on of her own. She raised her head for a kiss and I lowered mine until our lips met.
Later that night, she had turned me. We left town and traveled the world. No where was unreachable to us. We went to Egypt, China, Africa, Australia, and finally ended up in Italy, where it all began.
“ What do you think about this dress Griffin dear?” She had on a very exotic red dress that showed off her slender, pale neck. It looked wonderful on her, made her seem like an angel of death.
“ You look wonderful, my love.” She smiled and turned to the shop keeper. They talked briefly and then he went and retrieved more dresses.
“ I was thinking, tonight we shall have a special feast. Meet me in the park at nine o’ clock, we will dine under the stars.” She smiled angelically, and I answered her with a smile of my own. I left her in the shop and walked around for a bit. I stopped at a jewelry store and found this beautiful blood diamond on a golden chain. The diamond was a tear drop diamond and would look beautiful on Audriana. I went inside and purchased the necklace. I suddenly couldn’t wait for tonight when I presented it to her, how her face would light up with joy and love. When it neared nine, I walked to the park. There I found a young woman with a note for me. It was from Audriana. She said that she had told this woman that at nine a man would be here to make her dreams come true, but she was really giving me a before dinner snack, so I took a bite and soon lost myself in the girls blood. Suddenly I was surrounded by men bearing pitchforks and torches. Leading them was my sweet Audriana.
“ Here is the man who has been feasting on your people. GET HIM!!!” Her face was a mask of anger and hatred. Men on all sides of me grabbed me and tied me up. They threw me in a chest and chained it shut.


“ AUDRIANA!!! AUDRIANA, HELP ME!!! HELP ME AUDRIANA!!” I screamed for her but she didn’t answer me. I felt them carry me, the whole time I screamed for Audriana. Suddenly, I felt like I was falling, I heard air rushing past. They had thrown me off a cliff. The chest hit the water and broke into a million pieces. Then everything went black as I hit my head on a rock. When I came to, all I could picture was Audriana’s face as she gave me to the crowd of angry people, the satisfaction and triumph. I realized she had used me, and tried to have me killed. I felt rage and humiliation. I searched for her and found her in Paris, but she wasnt alone. She was with my brother. My brother had died years ago, or so I had thought. At first I thought she was just talking, because he didn’t know we were married but then she flung herself onto him and he put his arms around her. Old couples around them cooed at their young love, while I fumed. I stalked towards them and suddenly, they broke apart as they sensed another vampires presence. Audriana looked frightened as she seen me coming towards her with murder on my mind. What followed next happened in blurs. I remember me and Dameon fighting, Dameon dead, Audraina flying at me.... Then suddenly Audriana was dead in my arms. People around us were screaming, but I couldn’t hear them as I gently laid Audriana on the ground. I looked around and seen frightened people, people running, I looked down and seen my dead brother and the dead Audriana. I fled that place and never went back. I never took another human life. I feed on animals when I have to feed, all the while remembering the taste of human blood. But after Audriana, I never will drink human blood again.



I pulled out of my memory to notice that Katie was looking at me oddly.

“ Are you OK Griffin?” If only she knew what was going on in my head.
“ Yeah, im fine.” I grabbed a cup of whatever they were drinking, Vodka by the smells of it. I headed towards Dagger’s room, to tell her I was sorry, then stopped and realized she dont know that I was the one who brought the painful memories back and that if I told her that, she might kill me. I also would have to tell her I was vampire, so I turned around and went back to the party. The only time I ever wanted an alcoholic drink to get rid of my feelings, maybe these girls are a bad influence on me. Oh well I thought as I took a bottle of Whiskey and poured its contents down my throat. From the way the girls drink, you would think there was only Vodka in the house, but I found all sorts of yummies, that followed the Whiskey. Soon I was just a blur of memories, only remember seeing a leg of the coffee table before I fell into Oblivion.
