Josephine

Josephine

A Poem by Daffy
"

A story of a disabled girl

"
Little Josephine could not play
Like other girls do every day.

Each morning as the sun would greet her smiling face
She'd fall on knee, and ask God's grace
To help her through her every task, each toil
And not to let her spoil,
Others fun and joy and hope,
But rather help her day to cope
And help her struggle through
So all God's wishes she could do.

Each morn with this in mind she'd pray
For God to help her through her day.

Time went on and Josey grew,
Into a lady, fine and true.
With one good leg, and God's grace to share
The world was happy, with no care.
Her life was full, her days were long
She'd sing, be joyful full of song.
As surely as green is the grass
What comes will come and come to pass.

Each morn with this in mind she'd pray
For God to help her through her day.

And then it changed, her life, her all,
When suddenly a very tall,
And gentle man, so kind and sweet
Would hold her hand and on his feet
Would help her stand, and as one soul,
They'd go to pray
For God to help them on their way.

Each morn with this in mind, they'd pray
For God to help them through their day.

He was so mindful of her ways,
Of every breath and word she says,
A man who shared and didn't mind,
To let her see, that she was kind,
And not just he, but so was she
As Josey got down on one knee.
To pray to God and say with peace
"Thank you God for sending Rees.

Each morn with this in mind they'd pray
Both her and Rees would share their day.

The years went by, and both their hair
Turned grey with age, no longer fair
But old and thin their faces showed
Their happiness, with joy they glowed
And children many were around
And noise and bustle did abound
As all of them would joyful pray
The thanks they felt for their full day.

And now each morn, they all do pray
For God to help all children's day,
That all around in many a place
All children know of God's good grace.
It does not matter what you be,
If one leg, two or even three!

God sees you there, ...He loves you true,
And cares so very much for you.

So full of warmth and sweet as can be. Truly, You're a very fine poet with an amazing heart. I guess I might mention my eldest son, Michael, who has cerebral palsy, and how this made me think of him. Sadly, no female version of Rees has yet entered his life.

I had to read this as my mom was nicknamed Josephine. What a wonderful story this poem creates. My favorite line was "What comes will come and come to pass." You've just got to accept the things that come to you and know that nothing lasts forever.

You have pulled me and perhaps peoples of all faiths to pray fervently with Josephine.
I could imagine many like this blesseD girl around me.
Everyone prayed and answered with divine favor.
Thanks for sharing the lovely prayer that cooled my heart.

An interesting narrative poem, with a strong spiritual element, and points to ponder. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, you're very welcome.
A story-type poem with a great faith or spiritual dimension . It says a lot. The source of power and miracles is God alone , prayers are answered if they are sincere , faith is contagious and effective , thanks are gratitudes and so forth...I love the ryhming too for it flows greatly...Bravo
