Little Boy

Little Boy

A Story by Hopefull

He was born into the world beaten and broken. When your mom's a depressed druggie, what else can yoy expect? With an older brother already gone and the next oldest taking care of he youngest, there's not much a middle hold can do.
The one hold his mother was OK with spoiling, he didn't do much or learn much in his first four years. These being the most formative years for a child, he came to his grandparents an angry and confused little boy.
They tried their best they could muster; yet at the same time, they really had no hope for him.
Always testing the boundaries, never quite sure where he stood, he was constantly trouble.
As he got older he became more withdrawn, more rebellious. Yet underneath all this there was still that scared little boy in need of a real family.
Gradually, ever so slightly, he began to get better however. He acted better in class; actually started listening both there and at home.
Now, five years later, his mother arrives trying to force herself back into his life. One key point in this story is that this women had been doing every drug imaginable since she was sixteen. Her mind was thoroughly and permanently damaged. Forgetting things believing lies, she tried winning him back.
This is one step forward three steps back becomes a life motto. He regressed, acting out, becoming defiant, depressed, and anxious.
Yet again though, as her record would entail, she left, leaving behind the broken pieces of a little boy.
So now at ten, he's on medications, mood stabilizers.
This is a common story, however, it is a true story. It happens all over but this is one little boy I know personally.
One that I hope and pray has the brightest future ahead of him
