Epic Tragedy

Epic Tragedy

A Poem by Chelsea Schermerhorn

Greatness comes at cost.

Majesty has a price.

Grandiose demands dues.

Momentous rests with impost.

Mistaken is the nature of epic,

For it requires tragedy.

Just as power obliges

Responsibility.

This seems to be about Foucault's concept of the 'web of power'. Even those at the top of the food-chain have obligations to those beneath them... or they will be devoured by the masses.
