Friendship

This was one of my first poems in English... before this one, most of my writings had been in Spanish.

I asked the moon,
I asked the sun,
I asked the sea
what friendship is...

 

They didn't know,
they weren't sure
but then they said
the trees might know...

 

So, off I went
to find some trees
and listen to the whisper
of their leaves...

 

I asked the trees,
I asked their leaves,
I asked them all
what friendship is...

 

They softly whispered
friendship is
two souls in one...
like you and me.
