EPILOGUE

Heara checked herself one last time in the mirror. She had to look perfect for the portrait. Then James rudely barged in.

“You look great, honey, seriously, you’re worse than my mom.”

“Your mom is not the queen. And she’s not having her portrait done in five minutes!!”

“You’re fine.”

Heara shot James a dangerous look.

“Come on, let’s go!” James said, picking her up bridal style.

“Oh my God, James, put me down!” Heara laughed.

James sped with her down the corridor and put her down before a white door.

“Just because you’re my husband, that doesn’t mean I’ll go easy on you!” Heara threatened playfully.

“I thought that was part of the deal.” James said as he crossed his arms.

Heara shook her head smiling and went through the door.

The painte rhad his easel ready snd was arranging his brushes.

“Oh, Your Majesty.” he said noticing Heara, and bowed down. “Sir.” he added, spotting James.

“Hello. I think we can get started.” Heara said, picking up a crimson fan from a table.

“Of course, you Majesty.” the painter said and stepped before the canvas.

Heara flipped open her fan and posed surely for the painting.

“How is Caro getting along at the theatre?” she asked James, careful not to move her head.

“Well, she’s getting along.” James answered as he leaned against a table. “She gets a little in the way, but Picka and Trefla say she’s pretty good with the scripts. And her backgrounds aren’t bad either. They say she’s best with the costumes though."

“At least she’s not getting beaten up by the people.” Heara sighed. “And what about your brothers?”

“Well, they hang around there. But the twins have to chase them around with sticks for them to do any work.”

Heara suppressed a laughter.

“And what about that cute girl Joey was talking about? Is it anything serious?”

“Puh-lease. You know they’re never gonna settle down.”

“True, true.” Heara agreed.

“I’m just so glad it’s finally over.”

“Yeah.” Heara smiled.

So they had worked their way to a happy ending. Now all was well.

* * *

The portrait of the queen was added to the House of Cards, and she was remembered for many generations to come as the queen who overthrew the tirant and ruled wisely, though found enough forgiveness in her heart to show mercy to the wicked queen. And so, we give our kinde regards, to Heara, the Queen of Cards.
