Yesterday's Promise

Yesterday's Promise

A Poem by DaDiva

You came to me while I was sulking
Head down, on bended knee
Begging and pleading to be set free

I was wounded, tortured and broken
A shadow, weeping and sorrow
The tears fell fast and sweeping
Like a blizzard

Why me?
I can't do this anymore
Please help me

You came to me silently
Like a still wind, felt but not heard
I felt your presence
I closed my eyes

You assured me that it was done
The tears stopped
You assured me that it would be no more

You came to me and touched me
Not in a physical way
My soul and spirit awakened
Welcoming your embrace

I looked for you
I felt my body come to a stand
My shoulders straightened
My head held high

You came to me and told me
Time to celebrate
For my last tear of sorrow was wept
Pain no longer was welcome here
And joy was on its way

You promised me that yesterday
Never to return
I had learned my lesson
My task was done

You came to me and lifted me
Inspired me, consoled me
You came to me yesterday

Today
Tomorrow
Forever
By my side

Yesterday
