A Christmas Friend

A Christmas Friend

A Poem by Donna Jitchotvisut
"

I created this poem as a Christmas present to my life-long best friend, my cousin, Linda.

"

A Christmas Friend

The stars twinkled brightly, that cold clear night, shining down on a soft blanket of shimmering white.

A little girl lay sleeping some distance away, having arrived in this world on a long ago spring day.

The little girl was lonely, with no one down here to play " her sisters in Heaven for a while had yet to stay.

As babies do, the little girl dreamed and began to pray,

“Lord, I’m lonely, and I know I’m down here to stay; but it’s awfully hard without someone with which to play.  My sisters still sleep in Your Heavenly nursery - don’t You have someone else down here to keep me company?  Another little girl, very like me " could you send her down to my godparents’ family?”

The stars twinkled brighter and snow feathers filled the air " two days before Christmas, God answered the little girl’s prayer

" He sent me Linda, my cousin and dearest life-long friend.
