Watching and Waiting

Watching and Waiting

A Poem by Calvin Warden II

I sit alone watching the clouds gather
Growing in size and getting darker
Waiting for what I know is about to happen
Then with a flash and bang it begins
The sky falls and refreashes the world
Washing away all the sorrow and tears
Though the thunder booms
And the lightning continues
I still sit here looking up to the sky
Alone I watch as the rain falls
And washes over me again
Now I'm refreashef and renewed
And the storm moves on
All that's left it to wait and see
What will flourish in its wake

Sounds like a metaphor for life. Sometimes it takes a storm to wash away the sorrows. The key lies in the last lines. We can't give up; we must be alert to what comes after the storm.
