Real/Illusion

Real/Illusion

A Poem by Calvin Warden II

Love is an illusion
But pain oh so real
Charging down a dream
Stuck in this reality
Turning this way and that
Only to be standing still
I see you everywhere
But then you're not real
Just a longing desire
To feel that connection
One that once was
But will never be again
So here I still stand
Searching now
Because I still believe
In this crazy dream
The illusion called love

Sparely and clearly worded piece. Not sure if the speaker is addressing an old love, or just ideal love in general. Poem is upbeat in nature, the ending showing that the speaker is hopeful despite past disappointments.

PS: do a spell check on word 1, line 5.
