Free as a Bird

Free as a Bird

A Poem by Calvin Warden II

The songbird sings it's lonely song
As I sit and listen to the traffic
The mockingbird sings a forgotten song
As I hide in s condemned building
The eagle screams it's battle cry
As I watch the static on the TV
The crow cries it's warming caw
As I see the sirens fly by
The hummingbird wisps as it floats aloft
As I slowly climb the stairs
The falcon spies it's next meal
As I reach the roof so high
The owl asks it's unanswered question
As I take the step to be free
The swallows eggs begin to hatch
As I soar through the sky at last
