Warriorlog #3. I Almost Lost Myself.

Warriorlog #3. I Almost Lost Myself.

A Story by D.Salz
"

An anonymous individual writes down her thoughts —fantasy setting.

"

It’s been eight years since the last time I saw dawn and felt happy about it, saw the beauty in the dusty, reddening skies.

Since then, dawn has been nothing but daunting, because life became so damn complicated. I couldn't look. When I did look, I saw strain and turmoil and discomfort. So I looked away. I worked hard in looking away.

The world has taken many turns yet things remain mostly the same. The Wags come and go, the deserts keep sending rains full of ash and dust our way, the price of shoes keeps going upwards, skywards, and no one looks down on you anymore for being barefooted. The ambassadors left two days ago, and we were all glad, despite the return to normality.

I saw a Wag last week and felt the urge to be carried away, then I remembered just how sharp those claws are and how deep they can dig into your shoulders.

How does the world look from your corner? From your island in the midst of dunes? From your treetop or below your large, protective stone? For me, it’s sunny for once, and for once I like it. If it rained, I would like it, too. And that means life is good, and trouble is mild, and I can go on living instead of fighting against life.

Tell me about your corner; share your viewpoint with this lonely wanderer. I am thirsty for the presence of others in my existence.
