Jigsaw

A Poem by DriDri

When we first kissed
lightning quivered through my body.
I shook violently,
like trees in the wind.
At that moment, I loved you.

We were the backwards couple,
you tied your shoes before you put them on,
and I.
I watched you through the rear view mirror
never understanding the glint in your eye.
Writing our love in reciprocals,
I never meant for things to get so confusing.

We had been a puzzle
but with our pieces bent
no longer fixed together
you no longer fit inside of me
I was lonely, searching.
I still look.
I have come to realize
that what really lies underneath it all
is that it seems it is impossible for us not to fit.
For our puzzle has only two pieces
and love is the dainty picture
that shows us how we are to be
connected together
