If you ever got to know me

If you ever got to know me

A Poem by DriDri

If...
you ever got to know me
you would know that I like to live
on the edge
on the run
pack up my bags and go whereever, whenever I'm called
If you ever got to know me
you could tell that the cookies and cream concoction of my skin
will relay little about who I am or where I've been
If you ever got to know me
you would know that I paint
with words
brushstrokes
keyboards
and parallel lines of kohl around my eyes
not to mask or hide from the reality you seem to be so interested in
but to remind myself that my imagination is not limited to canvas
If you ever got to know me you would see that my life is an intricate poem
jam packed with secret messages in bottles floating in an ocean
full of creative juices flowing from a cranium only designed or understood
by a creator so much larger than we can imagine
If you ever got to know me you would know that I live by the fibers of the world
grains
yarns
stitches
running my hands across items is like breathing in the sent of my creator
in
out.

This poem symbolizes me, and how I am more than what I appear to be.
