SPEED THRILLS BUT KILLS

SPEED THRILLS BUT KILLS

A Poem by Dryford Chimutu
"

Celebrating a new year with a human face. Of course, time is a valuable resource, therefore it's better to do things as quickly as possible. However, caution is also important when doing things.

"
Time is money, so it is said
And such is the novel year right before us:
Much like the famed Australia's Eyre Highway
This beaming 2024 stretch right ahead
Will surely excite us all
Yet not without peril along the way
Never force matters, therefore,
Since the nature of events is time-specificity
And you and I will remember;
Speed may indeed thrill but kills
Thus caution becomes the essential tool
As we wade deeper into the year:
Further down along the stretch ahead
Welcome to the new year!

NOTES:
In this poem the persona celebrates a new year with a human face - highlighting the importance of patience and caution in everything we do. In particular, the speaker characterizes the ambivalent nature of time as one possible source of value and peril.

In one respect time is, of course, a valuable resource. Hence, it's good to do things as quickly as possible. However, caution is also important when doing things since the need for speed can be perilous.
