What is Love?A Poem by Twelve Steps to ZeroA question every idealistic teenager tries to find an answer to.
What is love?
'Tis the candle that keeps me warm at night, And drives off daemons with its golden light. Sparks a tiny flame within my heart; Sets it ablaze but leaves no mark Except a sudden smile Every once in a while. 'Tis the song, that soothes my soul, Takes broken spirit and makes it whole, Plucks on the strings of my lonely heart And makes it flutter in joyful dance Like little flowers in an open field, That twist and turn at the whims of the wind. Some say 'tis a waste of time, That leads to broken heart and shattered mind, That it is a dream of foolish men Who dream and hope their life away Who, like Aladdin, would hope for Djinn, To grant their wishes, to absolve their sin. But the truth I've learned is - Love turns the world, Drives all Men from young to old; It is love that drives them to war, And poets to write their lovely words. For, through deeds of pen, or that of sword, Love shall last forevermore.
