To BeforeA Poem by Daniel Eaves
Let me be young again
and revel under a burning sky Let the end of my street be miles away and each step out a magic extension Let me see under hedgerows and down into the cracks Let a pound be gold Let night be a mystical property Return faith in the older and grander Grant me vastness in inches and minutes Move me to tears with the simplest injustice Fire me with the adventure of soon Let me hide behind my mother’s skirts From the mystery of girls And if i must love Let us eat Play-Dough together Let a summer eve be its own infinity Let October make physical ghosts Let autumn be a great topic To hold our pencils and minds Shed my hours peering unfocussed through grass Let me be young again © 2018 Daniel Eaves |
