Rollercoaster

Rollercoaster

A Poem by Sarah Jane

We began in line

Waiting patiently

Watching others

Whove ridden

We smiled and snickered

At the growing anticipation

At the coming adventure

Then the gate opened

We took our seats

Hand in hand

As the bar locked us in

Together we waited for adventure

Then we were moving

Up and up we clicked

With butterflies running free

The excitement thick

When we reached the top

Then there we were

Staring over the world

At the top of happiness

And thought we could go no higher

And then we dropped

Our hands when up

We screamed and yelled

Distorted faced we rode

Straight down into oblivion

Up and down

We curved and swung

Our hearts dropping and rising

Without end

Even for a second

Everything was upside down

And then we slowed

The clicking came back

Only the excitement was gone

The ride was over

And we both knew it

And we got off

Waved goodbye

And swore to stay friends
