My Tub's Serenity

My Tub's Serenity

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Water beads begin to form
The steam begins to clear
Dripping drops stop their noise
Only a fan I can hear

I sprawl my slick limbs out
Upon this water-stained floor
The warmth of the water fades
A chill settles to my core

A lovely essence overcomes me
Feelings I won't ignore
The feeling of complete peace
I'd left my weight at the door

I don't have to be a daughter
A student, a citizen, or at all
For this second in this moment
I am free and cannot fall

In my nudeness I need not impress
For underneath we're all the same
Raw emotion and broken hearts
Only humanity can be to blame

Though I know I must get up
Dry off and gain my weight
But for this minute, just one minute
For once the world can wait

This is very good. I like the stark contrasts drawn up between who you are to the outside and who you are on the inside. Very good and very well written.
